Health Research: Scientific Research for the People. Programme of the German Federal Government
Efficient and high-quality health research is one of the most important prerequisites for ensuring optimal medical care for all parts of the population. Since 1978, the federal government has supported health research in Germany.At the end of 2010, the Federal Cabinet passed the research programme "Health Research Framework Programme of the Federal Government". The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) together with the Federal Ministry of Health (BMG) takes responsibility for the programme which is financed with funds from the BMBF. It is characterised by a comprehensive approach that encompass research of the causes of disease, health care needs and structural changes in the research landscape to better cooperation between industry and science.
