Strengthening of the Research Landscape Through Structure Optimisation and Innovation

The effectiveness of research is extremely dependent on the structures with which it is organised. The Health Research Programme therefore puts a strong focus – equivalent to the research measures – on structural improvements in the research landscape. The goal is to overcome existing deficits in German health research for the benefit of patient care. An important approach here is clinical research, in particular the performance of clinical studies. This primarily involves organisation improvements in therapy optimisation and therapy comparison studies.

The measures:

- Interdisciplinary centres for clinical research (IZKF)
- Competence networks in medicine
- Patient-oriented clinical Research
- Structure funding in the new federal states
