Funding

The federal government has continued the Health Research Programme since 1978 to promote Health Research. At the end of 2010, the current programme "Health Research Framework Programme of the Federal Government" was created. Additional funding measures are financed within the framework of the National Genome Research Network (NGFN).

Research on ethical, legal and social aspects (ELSA) of modern life sciences and biotechnology ("bioethics") is funded in an independent BMBF-funding priority. In addition, the PT-DLR GF also manages various model projects of the Federal Ministry for Health (BMG).

In the year 2010, approx. 2.050 projects were financed with approx. 270 million EURO.

The research focus areas that are open for funding application are published in the public announcements of the BMBF and the BMG.
