Funding by the European Union

In addition to the national programmes, the European Union finances research areas of particular European interest within the 7th Research Framework Programme (FP7, 2006-2013), including the EURATOM programme, in order to keep or establish a leading position for Europe’s in all important research fields.

Funds totaling 53 billion EURO are budgeted within the 7th Framework Programme; Health research related projects are mainly encompassed by the thematic area 1 “Health” with in the programme category “cooperation” some special funding measures will be addressed within thematic areas 2 (food, agriculture, fisheries and biotechnology) and 6 (environment).
