The cysticercosis research network CYSTINET-Africa, which is based on the One-Health concept that connects human and animal health for the effective management of infectious diseases, is set up to contribute to elimination and prevention of Taenia solium cysticercosis/Taeniosis/neurocysticercosis (TSCT/NCC). Within this research network, the subproject Germany I has a coordinating and supporting role in all African subprojects with regards to scientific as well as technical aspects. The main goals of Germany I within the overall consortium are: together with the African network coordinator management of the general network activities, especially quality assurance; specialist IT-support for electronic data management and the establishment of a virtual one-health platform with integrated "research school" in the African partner countries; and transfer of expert knowledge in the field of veterinary and human health sciences.
